Investing in crypto, made clear
Five ways New Zealanders invest in crypto, compared side by side.
How to invest in crypto in New Zealand
New Zealanders can invest in crypto in five main ways: buying coins on an exchange or app, holding coins in their own wallet, buying a crypto exchange-traded fund (ETF), choosing a KiwiSaver with some crypto, or buying shares in a New Zealand company that manages a crypto portfolio, such as Crossgate Capital. Which suits you depends on how much you want to manage yourself, which assets you want, and how long you plan to hold.
The Five Ways Compared:

2. YOUR OWN WALLET

3. CRYPTO ETF
What you own: Units in a fund tracking for example Bitcoin

You don't need an exchange account, a wallet or private keys or technical knowledge.
Things to know: We welcome investors of all sizes, from $100, as an individual, jointly, or through a trust or company. You can add lump sums or set up a regular savings plan. Eligible assets may be staked on shareholders' behalf, with the potential for distributions at the Board's discretion. Crossgate pays tax at company level and gives shareholders an annual tax certificate, and you can follow your investment in the Investor Portal and quarterly reports.
