Managing the challenges of investing: analysis, storage, security, reporting.

Crypto challenges - why Crossgate?

Investing in any asset class can be challenging. That is why for many investors they remove the ‘pain points’ of investing individually, by engaging experienced, qualified professionals who focus on investment management - rather than taking a do-it-yourself approach.

As an emerging asset class, crypto has its own specific set of challenges, amplified for individuals who are not tech savvy or are time-poor. Understanding which cryptocurrencies to invest in, ensuring secure storage and keeping track of this fast-moving market requires a significant time investment and specialist knowledge acquired over time.

Our curated portfolio includes both well-established ‘large cap’ assets such as Bitcoin & Ethereum, as well as cryptocurrencies at an early stage in their potential growth trajectory.

We place great importance on making it easy for our investors to access company and investor information. We partner with NZ’s leading registry providers MUFG Pension & Market Services. Our dedicated registry allows you to login and view up-to-date information from tracking the latest share price, to the reporting cycle and assistance with managing your investment.

Crypto basics - encryption, blockchain… what does it all mean?

What are cryptocurrencies?
Cryptocurrency is a digital payment system. It’s a peer-to-peer system that can enable anyone anywhere to send and receive payments. Instead of being physical money carried around and exchanged in the real world, cryptocurrency payments exist purely as digital entries to an online database. When you transfer cryptocurrency funds, the transactions are recorded in a public ledger.

How does it work?
All transactions are recorded on ‘the blockchain’ - a revolutionary technology - which is essentially a public record shared globally by everyone who participates.

How do you tell one cryptocurrency from another?

For many investors it can be challenging to understand such a diverse ecosystem. With so many different cryptocurrencies to choose from, how can you distinguish one cryptocurrency from another?

Many people buy crypto without knowing what their project actually does. For some investors they invest in Bitcoin, Ethereum or other cryptocurrencies without considering what is their reason for being.

Early-mover advantage

While we do not expect the cryptocurrency market to increase in a straight line, we consider that we are still in the early days of this new asset class and therefore the crypto market has the potential to trend upwards over a period of time.

For us it appears logical that as the world gets more digital, cryptocurrencies will increase in relevance.
